LAGOS, NIGERIA
Indigenous students of Lagos State studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria have been notified of the Indigeneship Verification Exercise required for applicants of the 2025/2026 Lagos State Bursary and Scholarship Scheme.
The announcement was made to members of the National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS),by the association’s Public Relation Officer 1, Nul. Adeoye Taiwo Samuel, informing eligible students that verification will be conducted across the five divisions of Lagos State.
According to the notice, the verification exercise is organized by the Lagos State Scholarship Board and is mandatory for all bursary and scholarship applicants.
Verification Dates and Venues
April 13 – April 17, 2026
Students from the following divisions are expected to attend at designated venues:
- Badagry Division: Lagos State University of Education, Otto/Ijanikin, Lagos
- Ikorodu Division: Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu
- Epe Division: Lagos State University of Education, Noforija–Epe
April 20 – April 24, 2026
Verification for other divisions will take place at:
- Lagos Division: St. George’s Primary School, Falomo
- Ikeja Division: Lagos State Scholarship Board Office, beside NYSC Camp, Iyana Ipaja
Required Documents
Applicants are required to present the following documents during the verification exercise:
- Letter of Identification from Oba
- Letter from Local Government Area (LGA) or LCDA
- Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA) registration
- Passport photograph
- Admission letter
- Student ID card
- National Identification Number (NIN)
- Current academic results (for scholarship applicants)
- Birth certificate
Students may also be asked to provide brief details about their family background during the verification process.
Important Notice to Applicants
Authorities emphasized that students must attend verification in the division where they claim indigene status.
Failure to participate in the verification exercise means applicants will not receive any bursary or scholarship payment from the Lagos State government.
