NANS JCC Oyo Denies Political Endorsement, Issues Public Disclaimer

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Oyo State Axis, has issued a strong public disclaimer distancing itself from any form of political endorsement, reaffirming its non-partisan stance.
In an official statement released on Saturday, April 4, 2026, the student body clarified that it remains strictly independent and does not support any political party or candidate.
According to the statement, the council emphasized its role as a neutral umbrella body representing the collective interests of students across tertiary institutions in Oyo State. It noted that maintaining integrity, unity, and credibility remains a top priority for the association.
The leadership specifically warned the public against misinformation, urging stakeholders to disregard any claims suggesting that the council has endorsed any political figure or party. It described such reports as false, misleading, and a form of fake news.
“No executive member, appointee, or affiliate of the association is authorized to make political endorsements on behalf of NANS JCC Oyo State,” the statement read.
While acknowledging the fundamental rights of individuals to support political candidates of their choice, the council stressed that such actions must be carried out strictly in personal capacities and should not be linked to the association.
The student body further assured that any official position or endorsement, if necessary, would be deliberated upon and communicated through verified channels under the authority of its executive council.
The council also called on media organizations and the general public to verify information before dissemination, noting that responsible communication is key to preserving the integrity of student representation.
Reaffirming its commitment to disciplined and principled leadership, the association pledged to continue promoting unity and protecting the interests of Nigerian students across the state.
