Ebonyi State University (EBSU) has officially scheduled its 28th Matriculation Ceremony to hold on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at exactly 10:00 AM.
The historic academic event will take place at the Ebonyi State University Permanent Site, along the Abakaliki–Enugu Expressway, where hundreds of newly admitted students are expected to formally take the matriculation oath.
Matriculation remains one of the most significant ceremonies in the academic life of any university. It marks the formal admission of fresh students into the institution and signifies their acceptance into the academic community, with a solemn pledge to abide by the university’s rules, regulations, and core values.
During the ceremony, matriculating students will officially become bonafide members of the university, gaining full academic recognition and responsibilities attached to their new status. The event traditionally features the administration of the matriculation oath, goodwill messages, and the formal presentation of students across various faculties and departments.
The 28th edition of the ceremony is expected to attract a large gathering of parents, guardians, members of the academic and non-academic staff, student leaders, and invited dignitaries. It also serves as an important moment of pride for families whose wards have successfully gained admission into one of the state’s leading public institutions.
The atmosphere within the university community is already building with anticipation as freshers prepare for their official induction. For many of them, the ceremony represents the beginning of a new academic journey filled with opportunities, responsibilities, and personal growth.
Security and logistical arrangements are reportedly being put in place to ensure a smooth and orderly event, while students have been advised to complete all necessary registration processes ahead of the ceremony.
As February 28 approaches, all roads are expected to lead to the Permanent Site, marking yet another milestone in the rich academic tradition of Ebonyi State University.
