The Faculty of Law, Ebonyi State University (EBSU) has emerged as the overall winner of the 20th Edition of the National Client Interviewing and Counselling Skills Competition (NCCC), defeating top law faculties across the country.
The competition, which commenced in December 2025, featured 15 law faculties nationwide. Following a rigorous selection process, six faculties advanced to the preliminary rounds, three qualified for the semi-finals, and ultimately the final round.
At the final stage held today, January 29, 2026, EBSU competed against the University of Ilorin and Nasarawa State University, Keffi. After a keenly contested session, EBSU emerged victorious, clinching the top position and winning the prestigious national title.
By successfully advancing through all stages of the competition, Ebonyi State University will represent Nigeria at the international round of the competition scheduled to hold in Croatia

Reacting to the victory, the President of the Faculty of Law, EBSU, Okemini Kenneth Ogobuchi, congratulated the student representatives and commended the Faculty of Law for its collective support, prayers, and encouragement throughout the competition.
He also expressed special appreciation to the Faculty Management, including the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Uchechukwu Uguru; the Staff Legal Adviser/Sub-Dean, Dr. Mrs. Caroline Agom; and the Head of the EBSU Law Clinic, Dr. Mrs. C. V. Iteshi, for their unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student development.
The victory marks another milestone for the EBSU Faculty of Law, reinforcing its growing reputation for excellence in legal education and advocacy skills.
