The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced an extension of the application deadline for the 2025/2026 academic session, shifting it from January 31, 2026, to February 27, 2026.
The extension, according to the board, is aimed at providing prospective applicants with additional time to complete and submit their applications, ensuring that no eligible Nigerian student is excluded due to timing constraints.
Speaking on the decision, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyer, said the move underscores the Fund’s commitment to inclusivity and access to education.
“This extension reflects our commitment to inclusivity and access. We understand that some applicants may require additional time to complete their submissions, and this decision ensures that every eligible Nigerian student has a fair opportunity to benefit from the Fund,” he said.
NELFUND encouraged all prospective applicants who are yet to apply or complete their applications to take full advantage of the extended deadline and ensure that all required information is submitted on or before February 27, 2026.
The Board also assured the public that further updates will continue to be communicated through its official channels. For enquiries or additional information, applicants are advised to contact NELFUND via email at info@nelf.gov.ng or engage through its verified social media platforms, including X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. More details are also available on the official website, www.nelf.gov.ng.
The statement was signed by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications, on behalf of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund
