The LAWSA High Court, Faculty of Law, Ebonyi State University (EBSU), has successfully concluded its Faculty Sensitization Programme 2026, a two-day initiative aimed at strengthening legal awareness, professionalism, and students’ understanding of judicial processes.
The programme, conducted on January 19 and 20, 2026, covered students across all academic levels. The sensitization team engaged Year One and Year Two students on the first day, while Year Three and Year Four students were reached on the second day. Participation across the various levels was described as commendable.
Speaking on the importance of the programme, the Chief Judge of the LAWSAN EBSU High Court, Justice Nwokoro Israel, emphasized the need for early exposure of law students to court structure, professional ethics, and procedural understanding as part of their legal training.
The sensitization programme was designed to deepen students’ understanding of the structure, composition, and jurisdiction of the LAWSA High Court, as well as to promote court etiquette, decorum, and professional conduct within the Faculty of Law.
Key areas addressed during the sessions included the civil and criminal jurisdiction of the Court, applicable laws, and Fundamental Human Rights applications, with emphasis on access to justice.
Participants actively engaged during the sessions through questions and discussions, making the programme interactive and impactful. The initiative was widely acknowledged as contributing to increased legal consciousness and appreciation of institutional roles among students.
The LAWSA High Court noted that the objectives of the sensitization programme were successfully achieved and recommended that similar initiatives be sustained to further enhance legal education and professional awareness within the Faculty of Law, Ebonyi State University.
