The Management of Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki, has expressed serious concern over the persistently low level of school fees payment and course registration by both fresh and returning students.
According to an official notice issued by the University Registrar, Mrs. Ugochinyere M. Uka, the online registration portal has remained open for over two and a half months, from 10th November 2025 to 4th February 2026, yet student compliance has remained unsatisfactory.
Although the University Calendar initially scheduled registration with penalty to commence on 23rd January 2026, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mike U. Awoke, has approved an extension in the interest of students. Consequently, registration with penalty will now begin on Wednesday, 12th February 2026.
The Management further stated that any student who fails to complete school fees payment and course registration on or before 12th February 2026 will be required to pay a mandatory penalty of ₦30,000, in addition to the prescribed fees.
Payment and registration with penalty will remain open for one week only, ending on Thursday, 20th February 2026. After this date, both the school fees payment portal and course registration portal will be permanently closed for the semester.
The University Management also emphasized that the Vice-Chancellor has directed that no supplementary or late registration will be entertained after the final closure of the portal.
Students are therefore strongly advised to take advantage of this final opportunity and complete all registration requirements at the normal rate before the commencement of penalty on 12th February 2026
