The management of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) has reaffirmed its commitment to students’ welfare and the promotion of a conducive academic environment across the institution.
The assurance was given by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Ike-Elechi Ogba, during a strategic meeting with the leadership of the Ebonyi State University Students’ Union Government (EBSU-SUG) on Tuesday, 4th February 2026.
The EBSU-SUG delegation, led by the SUG President, Comrade Chika Abraham Nwuhuo (CAN), comprised top union officials, including the Vice President, Senate President, Chief Judge, General Secretary, Faculty Presidents from Agriculture, Law, Social Sciences, Sciences, Education, Health Sciences, Basic Medicine and Clinical Sciences, the Senate Leader, Judges, the Chief Press Secretary, and the Chief Protocol Officer to the SUG President.
During the meeting, Prof. Ogba emphasized the University Management’s readiness to work collaboratively with student leadership to safeguard students’ welfare and eradicate all forms of extortion within Ebonyi State University. He also raised concerns over the low level of school fees payment and the poor turnout in course registration, particularly among 100-Level students, urging timely compliance with all academic and administrative requirements.
Responding on behalf of the student body, the SUG President highlighted critical student-related concerns, including issues surrounding the NELFUND Student Loan Scheme, the need for timely publication of approved course codes by course advisers to prevent registration errors, and the growing concern of indecent dressing among students. He reaffirmed the Students’ Union’s commitment to maintaining peace and fostering cooperation with University Management for the overall development of EBSU.
“We will take this information to the students and continue to encourage prompt payment of fees and peaceful cooperation with the University Management,” the SUG President assured.
In his closing remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) reiterated Management’s dedication to protecting students’ interests, sustaining academic stability, and strengthening continuous engagement with student leadership.

Hmmm, 30,000 penalty for not paying your school is too much, my siblings should rather withdraw from school because we can’t meet up with this date, please let the management increase the deadline of payment because most people are struggling to raise funds for themselves to meet up and this is going to challenge.. Nelfund is not helping matters anymore students are trying to register but it is always showing “missing information” why?
