A youth development advocate and entrepreneur, Evangelist Ugochukwu C. M. Iteshi, has urged Nigerian students to look beyond academic certificates and embrace entrepreneurship as a sustainable pathway to employment creation and economic empowerment.
Evang. Iteshi made the call on Wednesday, February 5, 2026, while delivering a keynote address at the 3rd Zonal Conference of the Association of Community Health Students of Nigeria (ACHSN), South-East Zone, held at the Ebonyi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ngbo.
Speaking on the theme “Entrepreneurial Development as a Tool for Sustainable Employment Creation and Economic Empowerment,” with a special focus on “Rise of the Entrepreneur Beyond the Classroom,” the guest speaker emphasized that while the classroom remains important in shaping professional careers, it is no longer sufficient in today’s competitive economy.
According to him, modern students must intentionally acquire relevant skills, develop talents, and explore their passions to remain economically relevant. He described true entrepreneurs as solution providers who creatively identify and solve problems, positively impact society, and transition from being job seekers to job creators.
Evang. Iteshi, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate on Youth Mobilization and Entrepreneurship Development, encouraged students to embrace innovation, adaptability, and continuous learning as essential tools for success in the evolving global economy.
The event attracted students and leaders from across the South-East zone and was marked by robust engagement and discussions on youth empowerment and economic sustainability.
The speaker expressed gratitude to the Provost of the Ebonyi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ngbo, Mrs. Chetachi Jerry Usulor (RCHP), the Zonal Technical Officer (South-East), Comrade Nwede Peter (CHPRBN), the Zonal President, Comrade Eze Ikechukwu Omogo, and the entire zonal executive of the association for the invitation and warm reception.
He concluded by expressing optimism for a future where Nigerian youths pursue education not only for certification but to become impactful leaders, entrepreneurs, and problem solvers capable of driving national development.
