EBSU Abakaliki, February 15, 2026
What was organized as a birthday celebration quickly turned into a football war zone as Team SUG President delivered a commanding 2–0 victory over Team Fineboy in the highly anticipated Campus Derby at the CAS Secondary School Field, Ebonyi State University (EBSU).
The special match was organized by the Office of the SUG Director of Sports to celebrate the birthday of the EBSU SUG President, Comr. Chika Abraham Nwuhuo. But from the first whistle, it was clear this was no ceremonial kickabout — it was pride, power, and presidential bragging rights on the line.
A Statement Goal from CEO
The opening goal came in spectacular fashion from the SUG Secretary General, Chukwudi E. Ogbonna (popularly known as CEO).
Receiving a well-timed setup, he unleashed a thunderous strike from outside the 18-yard box — a goal that sent the crowd into wild celebration. The ball rocketed past the goalkeeper with authority, setting the tone for what would become a dominant performance.
The assist came from Echoke, the SUG Director of Sports, whose creative play carved open Team Fineboy’s defense.
At 1–0, the energy shifted. The birthday boys meant business.
Penalty Pressure? Not for SKIMO
As Team Fineboy pushed to respond, tension filled the air. Then came the defining moment — a penalty.
Enter SKIMO.
Calm. Focused. Unshaken.
With spectators frozen in anticipation, he stepped up and buried the spot kick clinically. The goalkeeper guessed wrong. The net rippled. The celebrations erupted.
2–0. Game sealed. Birthday confirmed successful.
More Than a Match — A Celebration of Leadership
SUG EXCO members, campus dignitaries, and enthusiastic supporters turned out massively, transforming the field into a carnival of chants, laughter, and solidarity.
It was football, yes — but it was also unity.
It was rivalry — but also respect.
It was competition — but above all, celebration.
The derby served as a symbolic tribute to the SUG President, reinforcing the camaraderie within student leadership at EBSU.
At full time, the scoreboard read:
Team SUG President 2 – 0 Team Fineboy
A clean sheet.
A commanding display.
A birthday written in goals.
The match commentary was officially reported by the EBSU SUG Secretary General, Comr. Chukwudi E. Ogbonna (CEO).
